Nee Nor Nee Nor, Mummys wrong!

Today, I got told off by a 4 year old.

While parked outside the supermarket, a Police car passed us. Number one turned to her sister and said "Polices put you in jail".
I then had the conversation, about how the Police are good and if they ever get lost, to find a Policeman and they will help them, find Mummy and Daddy.
Number one looked at me with disgust and said "No Mummy. It could be a Police Lady".

OK, she's right. I shouldn't have said Policeman, I should have said Police Officer, but I was trying to have a serious talk with them. I was slightly shocked to be corrected, by a 4 year old!!

It just slipped out and I meant no harm. Its the same with Postman and Fireman (Although this was probably because, I watched too much Postman Pat and Fireman Sam, as a kid).

Later that evening, we had to call the Fire Brigade out and I found myself consciously, making sure I said Fire Fighters, when asking the girls, if they wanted to see the fire being put out. Our earlier interaction, had obviously had an effect on me.

It's good she corrected me. It clearly worked and it probably won't be the last time, as the world changes, around us. But before I could apologise to Number one and tell her, she was in fact correct and it could be a Police Lady, she followed it, with this gem...

Number one: No Mummy. It could be a Police Lady.
Me: Yes, yo...
Number one: Or a Police Dog...

Yes, my child is so inclusive, she includes dogs!! And I couldn't be prouder!!
