Who runs the world? GIRLS!!

Much to my dismay, Number 1 has become quite obsessed with 'Call The Midwife' . Its not a TV show for children but I often find her engrossed in an episode, after she's sneaked into the kitchen, while I'm cooking! She asks for 'the baby programme' and when I have to tell her no, she's quite annoyed with me!!
Having to have a conversation about, why that baby is in hospital or why does that Daddy want to cuddle his baby, at 4 years old, is not something I wanted to do.
When she asked me about the Daddy not wanting to cuddle his baby, I didn't really know how to answer. The storyline had been that the husband wanted a son, to carry on the family business but the baby had been the 3rd girl, born to the family. It was a horrible storyline, that thankfully had a nice ending.
I briefly said that the Daddy was being silly and he hadn't washed his hands (we make them wash their hand, before they hold Number 3). She went off satisfied with my answer, before washing her hands and asking to hold the baby!
It made me think about the fact we have 3 girls and how people still ask, if we'd wanted a boy.
Of course, it would have been lovely, to a add a boy to our brood but at the end of the day, does it matter?
Three healthy girls and our house is as loud and full of smiles, as the next. Would a boy have made a difference to our life's? No, Of course not. So. why do people put so much pressure on mums to be, who already have kids of one gender?
I was asked (by people who knew) all through my pregnancy, if we hoped for a boy. I just wanted the baby out safely, it's gender made no difference to me. I just wanted a healthy baby. Asking if the mother prefers one gender to another, is such an insensitive question. You don't know what that mother has been though or will go through, before the baby arrives. The 'perfect family' doesn't exist. 1 girl, 2 boys or a mix of both, it doesn't matter. As long as those baby's are healthy and loved.
My family is perfect to me. Three girls and we are done. I don't need a boy, to make my house happy and mad!!
I'm just happy to have three healthy babies and with every episode of  Call the Midwife I watch, I'm more and more grateful for my mad little monsters.
